Lake Motosu
While we were in Kofu, we stopped off at a Yodabashi (a huge electronics store) so Phil could get some extra rolls of film for his camera, and I picked up a new sleeping mat. Expensive but necessary. While hunting for that stuff, we stumbled across a huge 3 isle Yuru Camp merch section.
We buckled and got a shirt each. The first below is the one I picked up. There was also this Nadeshiko shirt with some funny Japanglish.
We ate some lunch at an adjacent Yoshinoya before heading back to the station to catch our bus. The route we took had us going all the way to Kawaguchiko, and then across to lake motosu. As it so happens, Kawaguchiko is Yuru Camp spot from season 2, where the girls go and almost freeze to death. But we didn’t have time to visit.

It’s also worth noting, that if we had done this leg on a weekend, there would have been a bus running from Kai Tokiwa (where the Yuru Camp school is located) all the way to lake motosu. So this is more ideal if you want to visit that, and maybe even Minobu along the way. The route we were going to take above also requires a 40 minute hike along the road from the other bus station to the camp site.
Despite that, we actually ended up missing our bus from Kawaguchiko due to some confusion, which ran every 2 hours. Phil was pretty desperate to get to the camp site so he decided to splash on a taxi, and it meant we could avoid the hike in the 34 degree heat. But for the record, if you do this route, you can take the S line, and also the Blue sightseeing line, abbreviated to just B on the buses themselves.
When we got to the campsite, we were met with another fantastic view. This is Kouan Camping Ground, probably the most well-known campsite from Yuru Camp from the first episode of the first season.
And bonus points for us, we set up in the same spot that Rin did.

The view from our spot was great.

At one point the sunset turned Mount Fuji a little red.
A cool lil pano I did of the view.
We headed back up to the main building to have a bath.

And while we were up there we had to roleplay the Nadeshiko shot by the toilets.

We woke up again in good time so we could catch a lift offered to us by the kind staff, so we could get to the bus stop on the other side of the lake.
Phil cooked some sausages he bought the day before for breakfast.
All packed up.
While waiting for our lift, I had to try the Yakult flavoured alcohol they were selling in the shop. A bit early for it but oh well.
And I also wrote a note in the Yuru Camp fan note book thing. I happened to find rentikoy’s note, a super cool artist I know from twitter, who draws lots of Yuru Camp related stuff. Hi rentikoy 🙂
And with that, we headed to the bus stop and waited.
