Tokyo Station
I actually started this pilgrimage back in Tokyo, since one of the spots is in Tokyo Station. The main characters meet here before taking the shinkansen to Kyoto for a school trip. I had a really hard time finding these shots, since a lot has changed in the station over the past few years (the anime originally aired in 2017). Nevertheless, after two days of attempts, I found all the shots.

As you can see, the signs have changed, due to the construction works I presume. That was the only shot I found inside the station on day one. I walked around the station a couple times and didn’t find any more. I asked a policeman and he told me a few of the other shots were behind the ticket barriers.
I managed to find the two outside shots though, as I was able to spot these on google maps. Both are on Gyoko-Dori Avenue, one looking towards the station, and the other looking towards the Imperial Palace park.

Fast forwards to day two. I went inside the station. The plan was to take the Yamanote line round to Iidabashi. I found the “Nakama-no-Zo” statue. It’s a wooden sculpture by Katsuzo Entsuba and depicts a group of friends.

Then I asked a woman at a ticket office where the big train wheels were. She pointed me to outside of the ticket barrier area. I thought ah shit it’s not gonna let me back out. Sure enough, it didn’t, so I had to get the station staff to let me through. A short detour and I found my way to the huge train wheels. These used to belong to a C62-15 steam locomotive that ran on the Tokaido line. I know nothing about this sort of stuff by the way, I’m regurgitating it from the internet for your benefit ❤

The next two shots I was going to miss, but I stumbled across them completely by accident. I spotted the lockers with the passage way behind, and had a oh shit I found it moment. After finding that I was able to backtrack and find the other two shots. This is the point where the students meet, and is actually a designated meeting point in real life. But as you can see from the comparisons, a lot has changed, which is why I walked straight past on the first attempt.

These were probably the most difficult shots to find, since I wasn’t able to use google street view to pinpoint the locations before actually going.
After taking the last couple shots, I had a change of plan and instead took the Tozai line to Iidabashi, since according to google maps it was both faster and cheaper.
