Kawagoe – Day 2
On the second day the weather was muuuuuch nicer. Plenty of people walking about, and lot’s of girls in Kimonos. I walked down the road from the guest house to take some shots of the “book shop”. I say “book shop” because it didn’t look like a book shop at all. it looked like some sort of gift shop. Note the different glass doors and the entrance to the left being different. Maybe the building underwent some renovations since the anime, who knows.

Then I headed back to Kurazukuri to get the shot the anime first gives us of Kawagoe.

Pretty much right next to that shot is the Souvenir shop, where Akane buys Kotarou a matching sweet potato mascot as a late birthday present on their date in episode 8. Saying I was disappointed that there weren’t any for sale would be an understatement.

At the top of the road is another shot, titled “Former Nagishima House” on surwill’s post. It looks like now it’s a “Japanese sweets restaurant” according to google maps. Looks like one too. The two pass by here on their date.

Taking a left at the intersection right next to the previous shot takes you along another road to “Candy Alley”. The two also pass through here on their date. It’s a cute little alleyway lined with lots of traditional style shops, and a really out of place “hip” and “trendy” lemonade shop that looked like it belonged in Shibuya. Nevertheless it had a really long line trailing out of it later in the day.

From here I went back to the main road and followed it to the river.
