Kawagoe: as Wholesome as Tsuki ga Kirei

Shingashi River

Where there’s a river, there are bridges, and Tsuki ga Kirei has no shortage of them. I think just about every bridge along the Shingashi River is featured in the anime, as the river circles Kawagoe in a satisfying upside down U shape. I started at the Takawaza bridge (not taking any photos since I labled my map wrong) and followed the river south to the next bridge, which doesn’t have a name. On my map I nicknamed it the “kiss cry bridge” because of what happens in the anime. It’s the scene where Akane gets upset about Chinatsu’s confession to Kotarou. I swear I didn’t tear up here either. My eyes were merely sweating, honest.

As you can see, it looks like there are lots of works to fill in the bank with concrete. Maybe it’s to combat erosion or something, but it’s super ugly 😦

I tried to get this shot but it’s taken right next to a playground. Of which there were many toddlers playing. Needless to say, I didn’t want to take out my camera around there.

Fortunately this area was untouched by the workers

Following the river even further south I got to Mikazuki bridge that we see Akane cross.

And following the river even further I reached another bridge that we see in episode 9, looking towards the Tobu Tojo Line.

I headed over the bridge and turned left before the railroad crossing, weaving left and right through a small, quiet neighbourhood. I made my way to a spot next to the Kawagoe line for a shot of the railway bridge we see early on in the anime.
